Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by Todd H — 15 Apr 2011
Probably the worst of the Planet of the Apes series. The movie (other than the brief Charlton Heston part at the beginning) is almost a remake for the first hour, then the last half hour turns into a bloody mess.
It is weird the filmmakers purposely chose to cast someone who looked like Charlton Heston in the lead role when he isn't a replacement for Heston. The half hour of the movie with the underground humanoid people seems very thrown together and random and if they wanted to "end the series" (which continued on with three better films), they could have done it better.
