Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by Al M — 27 Apr 2011
An equally thrilling an provocative follow-up, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes concerns a second group of human astronauts who come in search of the first group only to discover not only a planet controlled by apes but also an underground organization of psychic humans who worship the atomic bomb.
A compelling and entertainingly cheesy tale about the overlap between technology and religion, Beneath the Planet of the Apes remains a worthy sequel to its predecessor because it continues to explore the dystopian aspects of technology and its detrimental physical as well as psychic effects upon humankind.
