Review of Bend It Like Beckham (2002) by Kat B — 08 Sep 2010
This film is so joyous that one could so easily miss the sly, almost subtle, social commentary offered. Football mixes with Indian culture in a British setting in this film which offers, amongst other things, the emotion of sports (winning and losing), the pressures of family and the feelings of a teenaged life.
It is rare to have a genuine smile throughout and at the end of a film, but this one provides it.
