They really don't make epic films like they used to. Not only do these types of films have a vast army of extras, but even though the length of the film may stretch past two hours, it is gripping and exciting the entire time.
I am thoroughly convinced that if the Oscars were around for this film, it would have been an easy shoe-in for Best Picture. Now what I'm trying to figure out is why the 1959 version, with essentially the exact same plot, ended up being at least an hour longer than this.
Must have been all that Charlton Heston dialogue . . .
