Review of Ben-Hur (2016) by Seth C — 23 Dec 2017

I'm usually hard on remakes, but this one felt fresh enough to make it very worth watching!

At first, I admit the mostly negative reviews had me not wanting to see this one. I assumed it would be a cheap cgi fest with little story and worse acting. I was wrong and this was one of the most underrated films of 2016. It did not deserve the negative response and box office heartbreak. The story was well told, and well acted, with convincing characters, and plenty of excitement along the way. My only complaints would be that it did lack a little character development with the female roles and it could have easily been 20 minutes longer. There were also a few weak moments in the script. But overall, don't believe the bad reviews, this one is worth the time!
