Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Vipin K — 21 Nov 2009
In the same category of Citizen Kane, Star Wars and Titanic in terms of all-time greatest movie (Star Wars gets the edge heh!). The Roman chariot race scene at the end is an all-time movie icon. Even with Charlton Heston at his all-time overacting glory, there are very few movies as powerful as this one.
Films set against real life historical backdrops (i.e. the crucifixion of Christ) tend to not only be loved by the Academy at Oscar time, but also tend to be iconic and immortal.
