Review of Below the Belt (1980) by Senor C — 19 Apr 2010
Mostly made in 74 but not released until 80 (to cash in on the growing wrestling craze)Below the Belt benefits from having a couple of noticeable cast members in Dolph (Gimme A Break) Sweet & Shirley (The Honeymoon Killers) Stoler.
In fact Dolph Sweet has such an excellent scene were he's drunk before a match & razors himself it rivals the power of The Wrestler. Unfortunately Below the Belt is a little short of scenes like this & is padded w/ music montages & footage of pro wrestling w/ the likes of Bruno Sammartino (which I like but doesn't match very well w/ the midget & womens wrestling that is served up for the remainder).
