Review of Bellflower (2011) by Benjamin S — 15 Nov 2011
Bellflower is an Indie film that never quite feels Indie. A romance and L.A. coming-of-age film that never really comes off romantic, locational, or enlightening. I am not sure the characters ever even discover anything about themselves, however, this stylish and gritty little number is just crazy enough to work.
How Evan Glodell found the ambition to write, direct, and star lead, I truly may never know. But his passion and artistic vision show through like the brush strokes of a painter. To produce a film as genre-breaking and well-crafted as Bellflower on his first crack as writer/director, definitely invests me to see what he can fire out next.
