Review of Bell, Book and Candle (1958) by K S — 29 Nov 2008
This is a rare bad review for a James Stewart picture. Maybe I was expecting the same mystical chemistry he and Novak shared in Vertigo. If you are too then you'll be let down like I was. Even at that the story just isn't very interesting and there are many scenes that sizzle but simmer really quick.
Jack Lemmon has a small role as well. All the parts were right but something just didn't work. Perhaps Stewart was too old to be a romantic leading man which is most likely why this movie didn't pack the punch you would think since it was his last romance movie.
