Review of Beirut (2018) by Selma Z — 11 Apr 2018
So sad how they had the chance to use Lebanon's beautiful, intriguing, colorful past and make a movie that could truly show how the Lebanese coped with the war, how they persisted and survived, but instead chose to reduce all of that and make Lebanon seem like a heartless shithole.
the accents of the people who are supposed to be lebanese sound nothing like the english lebanese accent at all, it sounds more noth african. does not seem like it was shot in Lebanon either, in fact I doubt that there was a single Lebanese person in the entire making of this move.
tragic.
