Review of Being There (2011) by Gary B — 03 May 2009
A film in the mould of Forest Gump or Benjamin Button sees Chance (Sellers) playing a simple gardener who's employer dies and sees him onto the streets. An car accident sees him taken in by the wife of a dying millionaire and they both take a shine to his simple days.
Along with chance meetings with the president and a media flurry sees this man with the mind of a child seen a some new media prodigy. Satirical elements about the media probably hold more truth now 30 years later.
But an enjoyable and touching tale which shows off just what a great actor Sellers was.
