Review of Being There (2011) by Rob J — 24 Aug 2010
I remembered this as a comedy, but it isn't; it's a deeply sad satire. Peter Sellers is fabulous as Chance the gardener, a man with very low intelligence who is *adopted* by the top layers of society who believe his words about gardening to be deep and meaningful thoughts about life, politics and so on.
Such a difference to films like Forrest Gump where the stupidity of the lead character is completely overplayed.
