Does life imitate art or is the good artist merely prescient of the zeitgeist. Released a year before the ascendency of Reagan, a charming simpleton easily manipulated by the powers behind the american republican party the film becomes great not only because of its considerable intrinsic value, but because of its eerily accurate prophecy.
