Review of Being There (1979) by Ehron A — 23 Jan 2008
"Life is a state of mind" - so says Chance, Peter Sellers character in "Being There", a meditation on being present, at the right place at the right time and experiencing all the ways in which others try to force you to play a part in their movies.
As we watch him get caught up in extraordinary situations, we question whether it is his fate, whether "Chance" truly possess some special power, or if it is his simple innocence and ability to just be present to each moment without filters and ideas.
