Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Phil C — 20 Jan 2011
One of those films where you go "what was that?" during and after you've seen it. The ideas in it wouldn't be out of place in a classic surrealist film, and John M himself was a good sport for allowing himself to be the centre of all the ensueing chaos.
An unsuccessful street puppeteer accidentally finds a way to enter Malkovich's mind and share his experiences. The way he goes about exploiting this financially, and the often nightmarish consequences, tell you more about the state of the collective american psyche than a dozen rom-coms ever could!
