Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Carey J — 04 Apr 2012
Being John Malkovich was one of the weirdest films I have ever seen, and yet it was incredible. The plot is so original and odd, and Charlie Kauffman has written some kind of masterpiece, I mean who on earth is weird enough to think of a premise like this.
As for the cast, everyone was great but I think the performances that stood out were Cameron Diaz, Catherine Keener, and John Malkovich, both of whom I think deserved Oscar nominations for their roles.
But the magic isn't with the cast, its with their weird and at times creepy characters who make us laugh and freak us out, their originality was mesmorizing. This is one of the strangest comedies I have ever seen, and that is why I loved it so much I guess.
