Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Jaime V — 07 Jul 2012
You've gotta hand it to Malkovich for being a sport here too, he plays the role perfectly. Being John Malkovich begins very quirky and funny then it leans more towards the surreal and dramatic before it takes a more sinister, but not out of place, turn at the very end.
It's a film with great appeal, like all of Kaufman's best work, and I keep coming back to it. Also it contains one of my favourite lines in any film, ever; "I've been very lonely in my isolated tower of indecipherable speech".
Genius.
