Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by I Don't Know W — 18 Jun 2011
Endlessly entertaining. You could easily argue that this film contains the best performances given on screen by all four Cusack, Diaz, Keener and Malkovich. What must have sounded like a completely ridiculous idea on paper this stands out as one of the weirdest and brilliant films of the 90s.
It is just beautifully odd and has a subtle sense of humour, plus some moments of extreme sadness. Jonsze does a brilliant job. Not something I'd find myself watching over and over again, but if given a few years to let sit, I could enjoy a repeat viewing with the same interest.
