Review of Being John Malkovich (1999) by Stephen E — 20 Aug 2012
"Being John Malkovich" is a little uneven and not totally consistent, but it's really just worth a watch because of its brilliantly-premised screenplay and ingenious direction. Charlie Kaufman's highly original script is just a madhouse for brilliant ideas that just keep on coming, and they are complemented greatly by Spike Jonze's appropriately quirky execution.
John Cusack, Catherine Keener and Cameron Diaz are all wonderfully odd in their roles, but John Malkovich playing himself is one of the funniest, most interesting characters I've seen in a while.
