Review of Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey (2011) by Elliot R — 10 Apr 2012
I admittedly did not want to see this movie. Elmo belongs to another generation and neo-Sesame Street isn't that appealing to my demographic. However, #BeingElmo was a complete surprise, focusing on Kevin Clash and his participation in a historic era in television. Clash's personal story is compelling and moving and a must see for anyone considering a career in the performing arts. This documentary also contains incredible backstage access to Jim Henson's workshops including interviews with key players Frank Oz and Kermit Love. Elmo is a secondary character in this film, emphasized by the segment recounting the blitz of Elmo products.
I'm still not a fan of Elmo, but I am a fan of Kevin Clash. Put this at the top of your Netflix queue.
