Review of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) by Roxsy T — 20 Oct 2010
This is one of my new favorite films! The plot of the film is very deliberate, Leslie Vernon is being shadowed by a journalist and a camera crew as he plots and schemes his murders. The crew is with him as he finds his locations, stalks his victims, reveals his motives, and eventually kills.
What I mean by the film being deliberate is that Leslie is copy catting the ways and techniques of other serial killers while trying to deliver himself into his own path. He openly admits his heroes are Jason Vorhees, Michael Meyers, and Freddy Krueger and in an ironic and humerous twist of plot Robert Englund plays the "Dr.
Loomis" like hero who is chasing Leslie down and vowing to stop him. This film is both very comedic and scary. You don't know if they're tributing slasher flicks or parodying them. Behind the mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon is devilishly funny and completely entertaining the whole way through.
