Review of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) by Mark F — 29 May 2008
Possibly the best "Slasher film" [note... slasher, not Giallo,] film ever. I am seriously rooting for Nathan Baesel to become a legitimate leading man in film. One of the best AND most entertaining performances I've ever seen. Reminds me of 'Man Bites Dog', but dare I say it...? better. "Cinema Verite" brought to a new level. Despite my proclivity for this film [and genre,] I seriously cannot recommend it highly enough. For those well versed in Horror and those just interested in film.
Those who know me know I am not only a Cinefile, but a huge movie geek and collector, so those people may take this seriously... Nathan Baesel gives what I think to be one of Cinema's greatest performances in this film.
... I'm done.
... For now.
