Review of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) by Thorne W — 06 Nov 2008
An awesome concept that takes you behind the scenes of virtually every slasher film ever made as a killer plots to follow in the footsteps of Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddie Krueger; all while dissecting and commentating on the deep psychological nature of the genre (not seriously, it's more of a satire on those who do read into things).
The fact that the only really prominent actors in the film are Robert Englund and Zelda Rubinstein lend to the homegrown documentary feeling. It's not really realistic, but it is a pretty humorous take on the genre, and I recommend it to anyone who loves horror movies.
