This movie is really neat. It starts out as a mockumentary about slasher films. The titular Leslie Vernon is a dude who wants to follow in the footsteps of Jason, Freddy, etc. (in this movie universe, all those events actually occurred), and so he makes an elaborate plan to kill a group of teenagers.
The movie does an excellent job describing all these horror movie genres-- they're passed off as a result of good planning on the part of the killers. I thought it weakened a bit near the end, becoming a "typical" slasher film, but the first hour is pure gold.
