Review of Begotten (1991) by Peter E — 08 Feb 2009
I haven't even watched the whole film, and I probably never will, but it sure is an interesting idea. I liked what I saw. I read a review stating this movie is like experiencing a haunting dream of surreal, ambiguous, creepy images and colors, only you're experiencing it not in your sleep, but on your televison screen (or computer monitor, or whatever).
Anyway I think that's an excellent description. It's a creepy, extremely slow-paced film that's not meant to entertain the viewer, but to take him/her on a creepy trip following the death of "God" and the origin of life on earth (or something).
I appreciate the artistic merit of this film, though whether or not I will ever sit down and actually watch the whole movie, is another story. I'd reccomend people at least check this movie out. It certaintly isn't for everyone, and I don't even know if it's for me.
