Review of Beginners (2011) by Simon D — 28 Jan 2012

I've started to make my way through this years oscar nominations and this is the first one I've seen. When, a short while into the film, the nominated Plummer comes out and says "I'm Gay" I thought, of course he is, he'll probably get aids too (I was wrong, it was cancer), how else would he get a nomination for gods sake.

Actually the film doesn't turn out to be "A Single Man" but quite interesting, I wouldn't say entertaining, as such, but it is full of emotion and pretty deep. The dog is the only star worth an oscar though.

It is such as shame that the oscars are so predictable, please look back at the list of winners and see how many of them have either been aflicted or homosexual, even for just one night in the case of Portman in that swan lake thing she did.
