Beginners (2011) -- [4.0] -- I love Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, but this movie depressed the ever-living shit out of me. Well made? Sure. Something to say? Maybe something thin about seizing the day.
I like that it moves quickly, in vignette fashion, but dislike the gimmicky tricks it employs (like intercutting of still images and subtitles for what the dog is thinking). Mostly, I dislike that it's about really sad people being sad and shit.
