Review of Beginners (2011) by Krys L — 05 Feb 2012
A heartfelt and sympathetic look at sadness and how the love of life from others can get us out of a rut. McGregor is muted and sad, but sees the humor in life's mishaps; someone that you easily love for their vulnerability. Laurent his playful, but also hides depths.
Plummer is nominated for his role as the life loving (death denying) father, coming out at the age of 75. It was a good role and provided contrast to the sadness in the movie, but I didn't really see anything surprising either.
And the dog! Too cute. :-).
