Review of Beginners (2011) by Ted N — 03 Nov 2013
McGregor's museum director father is widowed, comes out, becomes very Scene - to make up for having Lived the Lie for so long - gets a young companion and then dies of cancer while his hapless son struggles to cope with all this while maintaining an on-off relationship with an enigmatic French actress.
Disarming mix of comedy and tragedy, deftly handled and full of bravura, though understated, performances.
