Review of Before We Go (2014) by Marina A — 22 Jul 2015
Liked it. Low key, very real.
An unexpected romance and friendship.
Good acting by all.
Worth watching IMHO.
There have been comments that this is like "Before Sunrise." It is similar in that these are folks that may not meet again, that have a wonderful night together... but "Before We Go" is better... IMHO.
Before Sunrise is about folks in their early 20's who are still in school, and not out in real world... These youngsters are more idealistic, and have not had the curve balls that life sometimes throws at you....
Before We Go concerns people in their 30's, who have lived and had relationships, and have felt the sting of disappointment, or an almost failed marriage, and are on the cusp of possible life changing decisions...
There is a beautiful synergy between these two people, even though there are early lies on the part of the woman, and it set in New York grit, rather than the idyllic Austrian countryside or beautiful Vienna.
These 30 somethings have already made their bets on life, and both have been burned... so to me, this is a more real and satisfying picture...
What we do not know, with both of these movies, is -- do these folks ever get back together.
Now, that would make an interesting story.
