Review of Before We Go (2014) by Prentice S — 16 Sep 2015
Before We Go is the directorial debut of Chris Evans and tells the story of two strangers who spend the night together walking down the streets of NYC while discussing about their lives. Sound Familiar? It does because Before We Go is a sloppy version of Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise.
Before Sunrise is one of my favourite romance films and the reason for that is because both the main characters in that movie are really interesting and the conversations between them are really profound.
The Script in Before We Go sucks and we do not get invested in the characters as they are really bland. Some of the lines of dialogue in this movie feel unnatural. Its nice to see Chris Evans do a smaller project but I wish he would have directed something that had a better script.
All in All, Before We Go is only watchable due to the appeal of its lead actors who try their best to sell the script but it still fails on almost every level. C-.
