Review of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) by Jay R — 17 Aug 2009
A visceral, strange, powerful drama about a heist gone bad. I must say the script in this movie is fantastic and Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke are really amazing. I particularily thought that Ethan Hawke should've got a nomination for Best Supp.
Actor but that's just me. Albert Finny as well is amazing as the father caught in the middle of all this. The movie is told in flashbacks and different angles which is fresh and great to see. The direction is also great, but it really is the script that shines as well as the slick direction that comes with it.
A very well made and out together movie. Thumbs up!
