The old master, Sidney Lumet, plants a juicy one on a new generation of film enthusiasts. The jump-cut pace adds to the suspense of a masterful use of modern melodrama. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is incredible and Ethan Hawke keeps up step-for-step with his portrayal of the timorous little brother hungry for his families accolades.
Watch the subtle interplay between the brothers in the bar scene as events unravel and you will be amazed at the actors' art of playing off the other. This stuff can't be taught. Marisa is timelessly beautiful and subtle.
A solid and suspenseful experience.
