Review of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) by Mike K — 14 Feb 2011
BTDKYD is another story about a heist that goes very, very wrong, conducted by two brothers who, although seemingly quite normal, are most unpleasant people. Going into the plot at any length will give it away, but I liked this a lot, Philip Seymour Hoffman is obviously one of the best actors in the trade, and Hawke, Finney and Tomei also put in excellent performances.
This said, there are few surprises, you know it's all going to fall apart from near the beginning, but the different angles the film takes on the central event make it a very worthwhile watch.
