Review of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) by Mitchell G — 13 Dec 2011
Man, if only Sidney Lumet could keep working for another half a century. While not his best movie, this captivating heist thriller told by non linear means is for the most part a success for Lumet. It showcases how scummy and desperate our species can really be.
The only thing the movie lacks is a really emphatic character and the closing act is a little too rough around the edges. Hoffman shines though as the sleaziest scumbag in the whole of this movie. And for the most part I was intrigued with where this movie took me.
