Great but depressing film. This is Hawke's best performance and Hoffman can just mention it as proof to why he is one of the greatest actors alive today. Lumet at one point seemed to be a little too showy and the ending didn't really deliver what the rest of the movie promised.
Other than that this is one of the best films of 2007.
