Review of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007) by Ryan P — 02 Apr 2013
What a fitting swansong for the great Sidney Lumet. It's almost unthinkable to know that he made this at age 82! Brilliant story, crackerjack performances (Philip Semour Hoffman's especially), sublime direction, compelling drama and good foreboding suspense. I really love this line from a great user review I found: ''Skilfully directed by an (at the time) 82 year old Sidney Lumet, this rather incredible film seamlessly combines the family drama of The Godfather, the dark, comic stupidity of Fargo and the nastiness of Reservoir Dogs.''.
Neglected gem.
