Before Sunset.

Starring:Ethan Hawke and Julie Deply.

Directed By:Richard Linklater.

My Review.

"Memories are wonderful things, if you don't have to deal with the past.".

A sequel that I would usually think unnecessary is as beautiful as it's original predecessor. I guess I can see why they made a sequel to Before Sunrise because our two main characters spend one night with each other other that ends before sunrise and meet once more nine years after that event.

Before the sun sets in this movie Jesse(Hawke) is visiting bookstores around the world and has finished ten so far. During his time being interviewed in a France bookstore he notices one beautiful who was once a stranger to him nine years ago. Celine(Deply). They take another journey this time through Paris and they talk about what their lives have been like after those nines, sexual encounters, the night they met in Vienna, and the book about that night written by Jesse.

The movie can be comprehended if you listen to the dialogue like for instance and I love this part, but there is a scene where Jesse and Celine are talking about a her grandmothers funeral and Jesse says that he was there but they missed each other cause he had to leave or another conversation where Celine said that she was in New York for college in 1998 which is were Jesse lives but yet again they missed each other. I loved that they brought that up cause what if you fell in love with someone and you didn't exchange numbers or you lost their number and you had no contact with them what so ever, but you were both in the same setting and you didn't notice each other wouldn't that feel terrible or sad even? That's what I felt sad cause that could have happened to me and just might not know it,and old friend from my past could be around and I might not notice her then we will never be able to catch up.

This movie was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, back in 2004 as too the fact if it won or not I'm unaware. But I think it did win and I hope it did. This movie was a brilliant sequel filled with engaging dialogue, Before Sunset is a witty, poignant romance, with natural chemistry between Hawke and Delpy. Igive Before Sunset a five out of five.
