Does everything a sequel to Before Sunrise should do and more. Hawke/Delpy don't skip a beat and are every bit as captivating to watch. They have lived their lives for nigh a decade apart, and are better for that as individuals, but they and the audience slowly realize that there's absolutely no way they should ever be apart again.

The film is filled with regret for what might have been, but to see the characters make use of that regret and not make the same mistake twice was a relief as a viewer ready to yell at the screen if the film didn't end the way I wanted (a sign of how invested I was in the characters).

The end might be a little abrupt, and we don't get the amazing embrace like we ddi at the end of Before Sunrise, but in a way that serves the characters who have grown up and lead more realistic and less idealized lives.

This is a sequel that lives up to an amazing original without in any way overshadowing it. Linklater & Co. have created two very special films worthy of all the praise they've received and more.
