Review of Before Sunset (2004) by Mykola G — 30 Jun 2013
I know one fact for sure about this film, and that is: it's not for everybody. Only mature viewers will understand the depth of the script, the interdependence between the two leads (characters, not actors) in order to make the film even work.
It's often overlooked as "just another romance," when really, it's a heartwarming film about the connection of two people, rather than their romantic relationship. Ethan Hawke gives the performance of his career, and small time actress Julie Delpy gives a beautiful performance, surging into the American film industry.
All in all, younger viewers may get tired of the continuous dialogue, but for those who understand it, Before Sunset is a beautiful sequel to one of the most romantic movies of all time: Before Sunrise.
