So this is the first film in the 'Before Trilogy' and it centres around the time we first meet our two main protagonists, Jesse and Celine. It stars Ethan Hawke as Jesse, a young American travelling through Europe.

On a train he meets Celine, a French student portrayed by Julie Delpy. Together they leave the train to begin exploring the city of Vienna, walking and talking into the wee hours of the night and slowly falling in love as the minutes before Jesse's return to the U.

S. tick away. This is a phenomenal piece of modern cinema and I truly wasn't expecting two people walking around a city for 1hr 41mins to be anywhere near as thought inducing, intelligent, beautiful and quite frankly entertaining as this.

This film is just about perfect in every way and Richard Linklater is a true talent and people need to start recognising him for his work more. This script is absolutely flawless making the two characters and actors gel perfectly together.

Thought-provoking and beautifully filmed, Before Sunrise is an intelligent, unabashedly romantic look at modern love, led by marvelously natural performances from Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. A.
