Very difficult to make two people talking for an hour and a half interesting, but this film definitely succeeds. it's a thoroughly believable first date, with all charm, excitement, and awkwardness that goes with it.
Hawke and Delpy have fantastic chemistry. each emotion, each spark of romance, each conversation felt genuine. I don't usually consider these two top-grade actors, but these were awesome performances.
the story plays out as a beautifully fleeting fantasy, for both characters and audience. if you need a good date movie, you can't do much better than this.
