Review of Before Sunrise (1933) by Kelly C — 20 Feb 2012
BEST romance movie I have EVER seen...and I am extremely picky. It didn't condescend to the viewer. This movie completely encapsulates the feeling of falling in love. I felt like I was falling in love with them.
Richard Linklater is pure GENIUS. This movie just makes you want to fall in love all over again. It's so beautiful, touching, poignant...Forget The Notebook and other such films. This movie makes them look cheap.
If you feel romance has been dumbed down or are the type that fall in love through conversation, this movie is for you. For once, this is a romantic movie I actually think more men would enjoy with women and it's not cheapened by tawdry sex scenes or other garbage.
It's just true, pure romance that develops from effortless conversation in a suspended time between liabilities and responsibilities in the lives of two interesting people. It left an unexplainable ache in my heart for the times when love was new and conversation still flowed.
Absolutely beautiful film.
