Review of Before Sunrise (1933) by John A — 27 Dec 2013
Funnier and sweeter than I remembered, the chemistry between the two leads carries us through their meandering journey. The intuitive editing strengthens their connection, while images of railroad tracks, bus routes, and rivers all give the sense of them being guided by forces beyond themselves.
Linklater's primary achievement here is to bring out the fundamental vulnerability of these two young people, still refreshing in a world full of people deathly afraid of what others might think of them.
