In this moment, Javier Bardem became one of my favourite actors. His portrayal of Cuban poet and novelist, Reinaldo Arenas (1943-1990) transcends culture and sexuality making the experience utterly human and personal.
Director Julian Schnabel's treatment of Arenas' poetry deserves praise for allowing the grace of the Spanish word to blend and flow with the beauty of the Cuban landscape.
