Review of Before Night Falls (2000) by Mark W — 07 Oct 2008
I wanted to like this more, but it felt like the subject was held at arm's length by the director. The best part was Johnny Depp as the prison drag queen/warden. The worst part was Arenas' life after he came to the United States, when the danger and romance just seemed to drain out and leave illness and despair.
