Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Kevin C — 07 Dec 2013

Before 1 was a film that I hold dear from the 1990s. It was our generation's Brief Encounter and always resonated with me. Before 2 ten years later was a decent effort, but I admitted to having fell out of love with the leads. They were annoying and self-obsessed in their thirties. Now in their forties they've just got worse and it's impossible to believe they would have stayed together. Maybe we should have just left the original well alone.

Before 3 is well-acted though, and it's always refreshing to let two adult characters just flow. Scenes of long dialogue shows a respect for an audience with an attention span.
