Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Paul K — 26 Jan 2014
I liked this less than most of the reviewers. Its main appeal is as the third of a sequence filmed in real time. It's possibly even more wordy than the last two; it would make a mildly interesting stage play, but as a film it lacks any narrative or plot development.
Taking place over the space of a few hours, it's a dialectic which mainly focuses on the position and role of women, as exemplified in this couple's relationship. Well written and acted, it nonetheless doesn't make a good movie.
