Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Steve W — 21 Sep 2014
This ranks up there as one of the best sequels. After meeting on a train with a burning passion, and then re-uniting after an affair in Paris, Jesse and Celine are married with twins and on a Greek vacation.
Jesse is now an accomplished writer, while Celine is on the fence about a promotion at work. The first half of the movie is mundane married life, until a small disagreement spirals into a huge fight in a hotel room.
You reallyroot for these characters, more especially if you've seen the previous two installments. This in depth look at a realistic romance is romantic and endearing, but also complex and subtle.
