Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Gustavo G — 24 May 2014
I don't think I love you anymore.
Jesse and Celine are now married with children and are dealing with the issues of Jesse's divorce and the hardships of trying to raise a family. Jesse misses his son, who he feels needs more of a man's influence, while Celine feels she needs more of Jesse's time, not less. These issues may cause the couple to unfortunately split despite all they have overcome.
"I have a Trojan in my bill fold and a rocket in my pocket.".
Richard Linklater, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Dazed and Confused, The Newton Boys, A Scanner Darkly, School of Rock, Me and Orson Welles, and Bernie, delivers Before Sunset. The storyline for this picture is extremely well written and thought out and perhaps the most realistic of the series. The complexities of the characters, situations, and overall plot are perfectly executed. The dialogue is awesome and the acting is perfect. The cast includes Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy, Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, Arian Labed, and Athina Rachel Tsangari.
"If I don't come it will be easier to fuck your cousins.".
This may be my second favorite film in the series after only the first film. This picture perfectly displays the struggles of marriage and the responsibilities that go with it that often split couples. There is fantastic dialogue in this picture and important lessons on display. This is one of my favorite films in the series that is entertaining and worthwhile. This, like all three pictures, is a must see.
"Let's just say there's more of you to love.".
Grade: A.
